Question 1

How can I meet Korean locals before traveling to Korea?

Accepted Answer

Download Gatchi and select "Planning to visit Korea." Add your travel dates, destination, and interests. We match you with people on overlapping schedules — Korean locals, expats, and fellow travelers — based on shared interests so you can start chatting before your flight and arrive with a connection already in place.

Question 2

Can I only meet Korean locals, or other travelers too?

Accepted Answer

Not just locals. Gatchi matches anyone in Korea — or planning to visit — who shares your interests: Korean locals, expats, and fellow travelers. Traveler–traveler, expat–local, and mixed hangouts are all part of the experience.

Question 3

I'm an expat living in Korea. Can I use Gatchi?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Select "Living in Korea" and your nationality. We match you with Koreans, other expats, and visitors in your city based on shared interests.

Question 4

I just arrived in Korea for a few weeks. Is this for me?

Accepted Answer

Select "Visiting Korea" with your current city and visit dates. We'll match you with locals, expats, and fellow travelers who share your interests while you're here.

Question 5

Is Gatchi good for solo Korea travel?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Solo Korea travel can feel isolating when everything is booked but nobody is waiting for you. Gatchi helps you meet people in Korea — locals, expats, or other solo travelers — for coffee, a neighborhood walk, hanbok at the palace, or chimaek by the Han River.

Question 6

What can I do with a match in Seoul?

Accepted Answer

It depends on what you both enjoy — sunset chimaek at Yeouido Hangang Park, hanbok and palace walks at Gyeongbokgung, or café-hopping and hidden food spots in Seongsu and Haebangchon. Matches are based on shared interests, not a fixed tour itinerary.

Question 7

How does Gatchi match people?

Accepted Answer

Tell us whether you're planning, visiting, or living in Korea, then add your city, dates, and interests. Browse people who match, chat before meeting, then meet up in person. Four steps: tell us where you are, find people who match, chat, meet up.

Question 8

Is Gatchi a tour guide service?

Accepted Answer

No. Gatchi is a connection platform — not a guided tour. People on Gatchi share Korea through their own perspective: the cafés, neighborhoods, and everyday experiences they genuinely love, on terms that work for both of you.
